Joseph John Chukinas,86, resident of Littleton, passed away on Tuesday March 19th at home. Born in 1937 in Luzerne PA he was the son of the late Margaret Agurkis Chukinas and John Chukinas.He attended Luzerne high School and graduated from Kings College in Wilkes Barre PA with a bachelor’s degree in education. He taught at Colonia High School in Woodbridge NJ in the English and Latin departments. His friend Joe Mashinsky taught with Joe and was a good friend throughout Joe's life.
He was preceded in death by his sister Constance B Kosco of West Wyoming PA.
Joe worked at Dunkin Donuts and was a co-owner Pleasant View Motel in Twin Mountain NH. Joe lived in Seawaren NJ and moved to New Hampshire in 1991 when he retired. Joe worked with Mother Theresa's Sisters of Charity for many years. He was a devout Catholic and attended services on a regular basis at St Roses Church in Littleton. Joe was an avid reader and book collector. He had given throughout his life to many charitable organizations. Joe and Glenn both helped the homeless to restart a new life. Joe regularly delivered meals and doughnuts to citizens and public servants.
Joe is survived by his friend for life Glenn Bochert and his family, nephews John G Kosco and his wife Laura, Dr George M Kosco III and his wife Lisa, Great Nieces Olivia Aronoff and Sara Kosco, and Great Great Niece Lauren Aronoff. Joe has a life of pets. His cat Julius was his last surviving pet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 19, 11:00, at the St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Ryan Amazeen officiating.
