Donald Avery Obituary

Donald Serrell Avery, 76, of North Woodstock, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on February 14. On Valentine’s Day, he was reunited with his beloved sweetheart and lifelong partner, Teri Avery, who preceded him in passing three years ago. Together, they shared 46 years of marriage rooted in devotion, loyalty, and deep love.

Born and raised in North Woodstock, Donald lived his entire life in the community he loved so deeply. He was the son of the late Dalton and Mavis Avery and carried forward the strong work ethic and values they instilled in him from a very young age.

Donald began working early in life, helping his family at Clark’s Trading Post laying train tracks. He later worked for himself as a logger before building a construction company alongside his father and brother — a reflection of his lifelong dedication to hard work and family.

In 1993, Donald and his wife, Teri, fulfilled a dream together when they built White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock. The racetrack became more than a business — it became a gathering place for generations of families and racing fans. It was where Donald truly came alive, pouring his heart into the sport and the people who surrounded it. If he wasn’t at the track, you could likely find him driving through town in his white truck, making his daily rounds, stopping to visit, check in, and share a smile with friends and neighbors.

Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose family always came first. In his later years, one of his greatest acts of love was caring for Teri through her final chapter with patience, gentleness, and unwavering devotion. Their love story remained the defining part of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Avery of Mooresville, North Carolina, and her children, Tracy and Katelyn Janow; and his son, David Avery and wife Mandi of Lincoln, New Hampshire, and their children, Dylan and Lacey. He is also survived by his brother, Dalton Avery and family.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teri Avery.

Donald will be remembered as a hardworking, humble man with a kind heart and steady presence. He believed in showing up, loving deeply, and staying connected to the people and town that meant everything to him. He taught those around him to be kind, love big, and never take family for granted.

Honoring his wishes, services will be private. He will be laid to rest beside his sweetheart, just as he would have wanted.

Though he chose a quiet goodbye, his legacy will live on in the town he helped shape, the racetrack he built, and the family and friends he loved beyond measure.
